October 17, 2007 New York Giants Injury Report:  Yesterday’s practice was very light – more of a jog-thru than a regular practice.  As usual, WR Plaxico Burress (ankle) did not practice.

Limited in practice were HB Brandon Jacobs (ankle), HB Derrick Ward (ankle), and WR Steve Smith (shoulder).

“It’s just part of the game,” Jacobs said of his various injuries thus far this season (knee, burner, ankle). “I’ve never been that guy that’s always hurt. I’ve never been hurt, really, before my knee injury. But I’m doing all right. I’ll be able to push through.”

“Trying to get over an ankle injury is hard because you don’t get to rest it,” Ward said. “I’ve got to manage it. We’ve got 10 games left. I’ll be all right.”

Regarding Smith, Head Coach Tom Coughlin said,  “He is going to work more.  He will be in pads again and we will see how far we can go…We’ll have to see.  That was the idea – to bring him in this week and give him more and see how he was handling that.  We’ll have to go by how he feels.”

Notes:  The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that an arrest warrant could be issued in Pittsburgh for WR Plaxico Burress if he does not pay three outstanding traffic tickets or request a hearing on them by November 20.
