Jon Beason Suffers Foot Injury During Ninth OTA Practice: New York Giants middle linebacker Jon Beason limped off of the practice field on Thursday during the team’s ninth Organized Team Activity (OTA) practice. After Beason was examined by team trainers, Beason was carted to team’s facility. According to The New York Daily News, he was later sent to the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan for further evaluation.

“I really don’t know much about Beason,” Head Coach Tom Coughlin said. “It’s a foot. He was running across the field, he felt something in the bottom of his foot. We’ll see…Foot. I don’t know, bottom, top or middle.”

New York Giants Complete Ninth OTA Practice: The New York Giants held their ninth of 10 Organized Team Activity (OTA) practices on Thursday. No live contact is allowed in OTA practices, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted.

The final OTA practice will be held on Friday. The offseason program will then culminate on June 17-19 with a mandatory, full-team mini-camp.

June 12, 2014 New York Giants Injury Report: Aside from the Jon Beason injury situation, not practicing at Thursday’s Organized Team Activity (OTA) workout were RB Peyton Hillis (undisclosed muscle injury), WR Odell Beckham (hamstring), WR Mario Manningham (knee), RG Chris Snee (hip/elbow), LT Will Beatty (leg), and OG John Jerry (knee).

Head Coach Tom Coughlin and Beckham said the Giants were simply being cautious with Beckham’s hamstring.

“(I feel) a lot better,” said Beckham. “I was running around today, running routes and dancing in the locker room, so I feel pretty good…I’m pretty sure next week I’ll be back up and running (at practice at the mini-camp). Just looking forward to it, keep day-by-day progressing.”

When asked about Beatty, Coughlin responded, “He seems like he’s making progress…we’re hoping for (him to be ready by training camp)…I think he does a lot of things, he’s building himself up and so that’s basically where he is. He’s doing all the rehab, but on paper he wasn’t scheduled to go until training camp. We started out, he was doing some of the jog-through stuff and actually did pretty well but a lot of that was on air.”

Coughlin and Hillis did not appear concerned about his injury. “Strained (it) a little more this past Thursday,” Hillis said. “But been getting better, been getting healthy, hoping to make it out there by mini-camp.”
