Last month, in five games, Beckham caught 38 passes for 593 yards and two touchdowns.

The last and only other Giants wide receiver to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month honors was Hakeem Nicks in October 2009.

Geoff Schwartz, New York Giants (November 30, 2014)

Geoff Schwartz – © USA TODAY Sports Images

Giants Place Five Players on Injured Reserve: The New York Giants placed the following players on season-ending Injured Reserve on Tuesday:

  • OG Geoff Schwartz (ankle)
  • OG Adam Snyder (knee)
  • DE Mathias Kiwanuka (knee)
  • DE Robert Ayers (pectoral)
  • LB Terrell Manning (ankle)

The Giants now have 19 players on Injured Reserve and one more (CB Bennett Jackson) on the Practice Squad/Injured Reserve.

Although the Giants placed five players on Injured Reserve, the team can replace only four on the roster. Terrell Manning was signed last week from the Cincinnati Bengals’ Practice Squad. According to NFL rules, he cannot be replaced on the 53-man roster for three weeks after moving from a Practice Squad to the 53-man roster, even if he is placed on Injured Reserve.

To fill the four open vacancies, the Giants signed:

  • RB Chris Ogbonnaya (ex-Rams, Texans, Browns, Panthers)
  • OG Eric Herman (Giants Practice Squad)
  • DT Dominique Hamilton (Giants Practice Squad)
  • LB James Davidson (Giants Practice Squad)

Ogbonnaya was originally drafted in the 7th round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams. Since then he has played for the Rams (2009), Texans (2011), Browns (2011-13), and Panthers (2014). Ogbonnaya has played in 51 games with 12 starts and has carried the ball 158 times for 710 yards and two touchdowns. He also has 96 catches for 714 yards and two touchdowns. Ogbonnaya is a big back with good speed. He has good hands catching the ball.

Herman was signed to the Practice Squad in September 2014 after being suspended for the first two games of the season for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). Herman also spent most of 2013 on the Practice Squad before being added to the active roster in late December. Herman was drafted in the 7th round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Giants. Herman is a big, strong mauler who struggled with quickness and speed at the collegiate level. He needs to develop as a pass blocker in order to make it in the NFL.

Dominique Hamilton was signed to the Practice Squad in September 2014. Hamilton originally signed with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted rookie free agent after the 2012 NFL Draft. The Raiders cut him and was on NFL practice squads in 2012 (Redskins) and 2013 (Redskins and Chiefs). The Chiefs waived him in August 2014. Hamilton looks the part with excellent size and long arms. He’s not overly quick or agile. Hamilton is a better run defender than pass rusher.

The Giants signed James Davidson to the Practice Squad in September 2014. Davidson was originally signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as a rookie free agent after the 2014 NFL Draft. He was waived on August 26. Davidson was an undersized collegiate defensive end who projects to linebacker at the pro level. Whether he has the overall athleticism and instincts for the position remains to be seen. Obviously, he is a project.

Because of these moves, we have updated the Transactions, Roster, and Depth Chart sections of the website.

Giants Sign Three Players to the Practice Squad: To fill the Practice Squad vacancies created by signing OG Eric Herman, DT Dominique Hamilton, and LB James Davidson to the 53-man roster, the New York Giants signed the following players to the Practice Squad on Tuesday:

  • DE Jordan Stanton
  • LB Paul Hazel
  • OG Rishaw Johnson

Jordan Stanton was originally signed by the Giants as an undrafted rookie free agent after the 2014 NFL Draft. Stanton was signed to the Practice Squad in August 2014 but cut on September 16. Stanton earned All-Colonial Athletic Association accolades for recording 56 tackles, 11.5 for loss, 8 sacks in 2013. Stanton has decent size and flashes some ability, but he did not really standout in the 2014 preseason.

Paul Hazel was originally signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as a rookie free agent after the 2013 NFL Draft. He was claimed by the Browns after the Jaguars waived him and he played in 13 games in 2013 for Cleveland. The Texans then claimed Hazel off of waivers from the Browns in March 2014, but he did not make the team. Hazel is a tall, thin pass rusher.

Rishaw Johnson was signed as a rookie free agent by the Seattle Seahawks after the 2013 NFL Draft. Since then, he has spent time Chiefs (2013), Buccaneers (2014), Cowboys (2014), and Packers (2014). Johnson is a strong player with decent size who needs to improve his pass blocking.

Notes: The Giants have lost their last three games by a total of 10 points.

The last two games marked the first time in their history the Giants lost consecutive games after leading by 11 or more points at halftime in each.

The Giants have been outscored in the third quarter, 109-34, a 75-point differential that is the league’s worst.

Mathias Kiwanuka, New York Giants (September 21, 2014)

Mathias Kiwanuka – © USA TODAY Sports Images

Mathias Kiwanuka Will Not Play Against Jaguars: New York Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka (knee), who was originally listed as “questionable” on Friday for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, did not make the trip to Jacksonville and his status has been downgraded to “out.” Robert Ayers will start at left defensive end for Kiwanuka. Damontre Moore is likely to see his workload also dramatically increase.

DT Cullen Jenkins (calf), LB Jacquian Williams (concussion/shoulder), and OG Adam Snyder (knee) were ruled out of the game on Friday.

OT Justin Pugh (quadriceps), who is questionable, did make the trip but he is not expected to start at right tackle on Sunday. Geoff Schwartz is expected to start at that position for the second week in a row with Weston Richburg regaining his starting position at left guard with Snyder out.

“Well, late in the (Seattle game, Jenkins) did (suffer a setback),” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “That’s why he is like he is. He had some swelling.”

RB Rashad Jennings (knee), TE Daniel Fells (neck), DE Damontre Moore (shoulder), and S Nat Berhe (ankle) practiced on a limited basis.

“(Jennings) did a good job again, practiced, took a lot of turns,” said Coughlin. “Did pretty well.”

Orleans Darkwa, Miami Dolphins (September 14, 2014)

Orleans Darkwa – © USA TODAY Sports Images

Giants Sign RB Orleans Darkwa, Place RB Michael Cox on IR: The New York Giants placed running back Michael Cox on season-ending Injured Reserve on Wednesday. Cox fractured his lower leg in the Giants-Seahawks game on Sunday.

To fill that vacant roster spot, the Giants signed running back Orleans Darkwa off of the Practice Squad of the Miami Dolphins.

Darkwa was signed by the Dolphins as a rookie free agent after the 2014 NFL Draft. He played in four games in September before being waived in October and signed to the team’s Practice Squad. Darkwa has average size and overall athletic ability, but he is a steady, hard-working football player with good intangibles.

Because of these moves, we have updated the TransactionsRoster, and Depth Chart sections of the website.

Practice Squad Moves: The New York Giants have signed cornerback Josh Victorian to the Practice Squad. To make room for Victorian, the team has terminated the Practice Squad contract of safety Kyle Sebetic.

Victorian was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent after the 2011 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. Since then, he has spent time with the Patriots (2011), Saints (2012), Steelers (2012-13), Texans (2013), and Lions (2014). He has played in 12 NFL games, four for the Steelers with one start in 2012 and eight for the Texans in 2013. Victorian has average size and lacks ideal overall athleticism, but he is a hard working, instinctive football player.

November 12, 2014 New York Giants Injury Report: RB Peyton Hillis (concussion), DE Damontre Moore (shoulder), DT Cullen Jenkins (calf), and LB Jacquian Williams (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday.

“(Hillis is) not good,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “He and Jacquian are both still under doctor supervision. They were sent home today.”

I expect that Damontre will work tomorrow,” said Coughlin.

RB Rashad Jennings (knee), TE Daniel Fells (neck), DE Mathias Kiwanuka (knee), and S Nat Berhe (ankle) practiced on a limited basis.

“(Jennings) will give our team an outstanding lift,” said Coughlin. “He will practice – the term is going to be limited, but we had him in that capacity a week ago. We selectively worked him. We thought he did well under those circumstances a week ago, and I think we will progress throughout the course of this week and hopefully, without a setback, now he will be ready to go.”

When asked about OG Geoff Schwartz (toe), who is still on short-term Injured Reserve, Coughlin responded, “He’s going to get a lot of work this week. We have until next Monday to make that call. His activity has increased and we’ll do the same thing this week.”

RB Rashad Jennings (knee), OG Weston Richburg (ankle), CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (back/hamstring), DT Cullen Jenkins (calf), and P Steve Weatherford (ankle/back) practiced on a limited basis.

“I expect (Richburg) to (play on Sunday),” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “He was really probably 50 percent today, and I’m hoping to go inside and find out that he can do more tomorrow.”

Giants to Honor Michael Strahan: The New York Giants will honor former defensive end Michael Strahan at halftime of Monday night’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Giants will welcome back more than 100 former players for “Giants Homecoming Weekend.” At halftime, a special ceremony will honor Strahan, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this year.

Former Giants in attendance will include Frank Gifford, Lawrence Taylor, Harry Carson, Mark Bavaro, Carl Banks, Amani Toomer, Jason Sehorn, Ottis Anderson, Jessie Armstead, Joe Morris, Brandon Jacobs, and Rodney Hampton.

October 30, 2014 New York Giants Injury Report: RB Rashad Jennings (knee) and DT Cullen Jenkins (calf) did not practice on Thursday. Head Coach Tom Coughlin has already ruled Jennings out of the game against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night.

CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (back/hamstring) and P Steve Weatherford (left ankle) were limited in practice.

OG Geoff Schwartz (toe) is still on short-term Injured Reserve. “We’ll see throughout the whole process here with the amount of time that he has to get ready,” said Coughlin. “He’s coming off of a significant injury so we’ll see how he practices and then we’ll go from there…He hasn’t practiced yet. He’s going out there, he’s going to go through individual, and then we’ll spoon feed him in there, no doubt on the scout side of the ball first.”

Jon Beason, New York Giants (August 18, 2014)

Jon Beason – Photo by Connor Hughes

Jon Beason Out for the Season: The New York Giants confirmed on Monday that linebacker Jon Beason will undergo surgery on his injured right foot. Beason will be placed on Injured Reserve and miss the rest of the 2014 NFL season.

“Let’s get him right,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “We got the guy on the field, he tried it, it actually became a little bit different kind of an injury but the same area. He gave it everything he had and he had the doctor’s approval. Unfortunately, it didn’t work.”

Beason suffered a ligament tear and fracture to the sesamoid bone in his right foot during an OTA practice on June 12. He aggravated the injury in Week 2 against Arizona and Week 7 against Dallas. He missed three games after the game against the Cardinals.

October 27, 2014 New York Giants Injury Report: Aside from LB Jon Beason (foot), not practicing on Monday were RB Rashad Jennings (knee), RB Peyton Hillis (illness), DT Cullen Jenkins (calf), and LB Spencer Paysinger (illness).

“He’s not ready to go,” said Head Coach Tom Coughin of Jennings. “He’s day-to-day.”

“I just need to get to the point where I can get back to cutting,’’ Jennings said. “Right now it’s linear, then eventually we’ll get to side to side.”

“(Hillis is) sick,” said Coughlin. “We’ve got a couple of guys. I’m telling you, these vacations are no good. They come back, they’re throwing up. They probably caught it from the kids or something. We’ve got two or three of them that are… (Spencer) Paysinger same way. He’s sick too.”

CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (back/hamstring) and OG Geoff Schwartz (toe) were limited.

“(Rodgers-Cromartie) was out there,” said Coughlin. “Last week we were encouraged because of the number of treatments that he got. We’ll have to see…I thought there was (improvement). He did some plays and took some plays where he didn’t work. I think it’s a little better than it was, but whether or not it’s ready to be where we would want it to be, I don’t know.”

October 13, 2014 New York Giants Injury Report: WR Victor Cruz (torn patella tendon) and CB Trumaine McBride (thumb) will need surgery. Cruz’s season is over and he faces a long road back from a serious and potentially career-threatening injury.

Coughin was asked if McBride’s season was also over. “That will be decision we will have to make here,” replied Coughlin.

CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie left the game with a back injury that is apparently related to the previous ankle/hamstring (“IT band”) issue. “I would hope that we can figure out some way to try to take care of (DRC’s) medical issue,” said Coughlin. “If it has to be this week, fine; if it isn’t, it will be after this game here with the bye in front of us. That is a medical decision that is going to have to be made.”
