SEPTEMBER 15, 2023 GIANTS INJURY REPORT…
Every player on the 53-man roster practiced on Friday. “Everybody’s practicing, and we’ll reevaluate after practice,” said Head Coach Brian Daboll.

WR Wan’Dale Robinson (knee), TE Darren Waller (hamstring), LT Andrew Thomas (hamstring), OT Matt Peart (elbow), OLB Azeez Ojulari (hamstring), LB Cam Brown (ankle), CB Deonte Banks (calf), CB Cor’Dale Flott (hamstring), S Gervarrius Owens (hamstring), and PK Graham Gano (ankle) were limited in practice.

“I talk to (Thomas) every day,” said Daboll. “So today, he said he feels a little bit better. We’ll do a little bit more with him today… I have discussions anytime a player is injured. Obviously, I refer to the medical staff. I trust those guys implicitly, but I also want to talk to the player to see where they’re at, their head’s at, and you want to do the player right. So, if he’s ready to play, he’ll play. And if he’s not, he won’t.”

Practice squad player CB Amani Oruwariye (neck) returned to practice.

JUNE 14, 2023 NEW YORK GIANTS MINI-CAMP REPORT…
The second and last day of the New York Giants 2-day, mandatory mini-camp was held on Wednesday at Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. No live contact is permitted during the mini-camp, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are allowed. After a team cookout on Thursday, the players are now off until summer training camp begins in late July.

“I think one of the most important things in spring is the strength and conditioning,” said Head Coach Brian Daboll on what his team accomplished. “I think those guys have done a good job with that. And then the chemistry that you build with one another, not just on the field, but off the field, getting to know one another. We’ve signed a bunch of new free agents; we have the college guys coming in. So again, it’s been a good group to work with. Time will tell here as we get started in training camp.”

ABSENTEES…
The only player not present was RB Saquon Barkley, who is currently not under contract as an unsigned Franchise player.

PRACTICE NOTES…
Some snippets from various media sources:

  • Wide receiver Sterling Shepard appeared to be running at full speed running routes against air early in practice. He worked on the side after that.
  • Wide receiver Parris Campbell continues to receive some snaps out of the backfield, similar to how wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson was used last season.
  • John Michael Schmitz was the first-team center with Ben Bredeson at left guard.
  • Darnay Holmes was the first-team slot cornerback with Bobby McCain starting at safety alongside Xavier McKinney.
  • Inside linebacker Bobby Okereke broke up a pass over the middle in 7-on-7 drills and nearly had the interception.
  • Cornerback Deonte Banks broke up a fade pass from quarterback Daniel Jones intended for wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins.
  • Wide receiver David Sills was active catching the ball, including a big gain on seam pass from quarterback Daniel Jones.
  • Quarterback Daniel Jones found tight end Lawrence Cager for a 20-yard touchdown near the end of practice.
  • Practice ended early due to the threat of lightning.

NEW YORK GIANTS RE-SIGN ISAIAH HODGINS…
The Giants have re-signed wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins, who was set to become exclusive rights free agent on March 15.

The Giants claimed Hodgins off of waivers from the Buffalo Bills in early November 2022. Hodgins quickly received playing time, playing in eight regular-season games with five starts. He finished with 33 catches for 351 yards (10.6 yards per catch) and four touchdowns. In the playoff game against the Vikings, Hodgins caught eight passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. However, he was limited to one catch against the playoff loss to the Eagles.

Hodgins was originally drafted in the 6th round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Bills. He spent most of his rookie season on Injured Reserve and most of 2021 on the Practice Squad. Before coming to the Giants, Hodgins only played in two regular-season games, catching four passes for 41 yards.

SHEA TIERNEY REMAINS WITH GIANTS…

Tierney had interviewed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their offensive coordinator vacancy, but that position was filled by Seattle Seahawks quarterback coach Dave Canales. The Denver Broncos reportedly may also be interested in Kafka.

The 35-year old Kafka first became a coach with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017, when he served an offensive quality control coach. He was then promoted by the Chiefs to quarterbacks coach (2018-2019) and then quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator (2020-2021).

COLTS INTERVIEW DON MARTINDALE AGAIN…
The Indianapolis Colts have held a second interview with New York Giants Defensive Coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale for their head-coaching vacancy. The 59-year old Martindale served as the defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens for four years before joining the Giants last offseason. From 2012-2017, he was the linebackers coach of the Ravens.

BUCCANEERS INTERESTED IN SHEA TIERNEY…

DECEMBER 30, 2022 NEW YORK GIANTS INJURY REPORT…
DL Leonard Williams (neck), OLB Azeez Ojulari (ankle), and CB Adoree’ Jackson (knee) were limited in practice on Friday. Jackson is officially “doubtful” for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts; Ojulari is “questionable”; and Williams is likely to play.

“(Jackson will) do some more stuff today,” said Head Coach Brian Daboll before practice. “We’ll take it right up to the end (game-time decision). He’s really the only guy we’ll take right up to the end… (Williams and Ojulari) should be good to go… barring anything that happens today (at practice).”

S Xavier McKinney, who is currently on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury List, practiced for the second straight day. However, he is not expected to play on Sunday. “I’d say that yesterday was kind of the first step of getting him back out there,” said Daboll. “I thought he moved around well. Conditioning, I thought, was good. Obviously, hasn’t played a game in a while. I’d probably say probably not this week, but he looked good up there.”
