Justin Tuck Comments Again on His Free Agent Future: Last Thursday, soon-to-be unrestricted free agent DE Justin Tuck told The New York Post that he would likely hit the open market when free agency begins on March 11. Last Friday, Tuck contradicted himself a bit when he said it was possible he would re-sign with the Giants before March 11. Last Saturday, Tuck told The New York Post that he and the Giants would like to get a new deal done.

“I honestly think the Giants are going to do everything in their power to make it work,” Tuck said. “They want me to be back. I think I want to be back.”

“I’ve only been here, with one team,” Tuck said. “The Giants are a great organization, but everyone understands it’s a business. We’ll do our due diligence — on both sides — and see what happens…It’s a little strange, not knowing where I’m going to be. It’s something I’ve never experienced. I’m just trying to enjoy the process…I feel great and I’ll be playing somewhere next year…I predict that next year, whatever team I’m on is going to win.”

Quotes: New York Giants President/CEO John Mara on the memorabilia lawsuit brought against the Giants and QB Eli Manning: “It’s a frivolous suit. and unfortunately it’s the cost of doing business in this day and age, that people sue you and you have to defend yourselves. And unfortunately the filing of the lawsuit always brings a lot more attention than the ultimate dismissal of the lawsuit. We’re very confident that this lawsuit will be dismissed, and I just hope that it receives a little bit of attention when it does because it is tough to have to deal with lawsuits like that, particularly this week…We’re going to vigorously defend ourselves and we’re very confident that this will be thrown out of court.”

Hakeem Nicks Not Expected to Re-Sign with New York Giants: According to NFL.com, soon-to-be unrestricted free agent wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is not expected to re-sign with the New York Giants when free agency begins in March.

NFL.com is reporting that two of the reasons why Nicks will not be re-signed are his disappointing play in 2012 and 2013, and a string of team-imposed fines. Apparently, Nicks has been fined repeatedly for being late to team meetings and missing medical treatments. NFL.com says the fines were “in the thousands for each transgression.” Nicks also supposedly was battling through “several” injuries.

CB Corey Webster (hip) practiced on a limited basis.

DE Jason Pierre-Paul (knee), LB Jacquian Williams (knee), S Cooper Taylor (shoulder), and OT David Diehl (thumb) fully practiced.

“With David Baas and Chris Snee, it doesn’t look like a whole lot of improvement there,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “We’re holding our breath as we move into this week. David Diehl will practice. Mark Herzlich seems to be a lot better today with the toe, and hopefully by tomorrow, he’ll be ready to go. (Jayron) Hosley’s hamstring is probably going to be an issue. (Cullen) Jenkins looked better today. He won’t practice, but he did look better today. Jason Pierre-Paul will practice. Shaun Rogers should be able to go tomorrow. Aaron (Ross) probably can’t make it. Cooper Taylor is practicing. Terrell Thomas is going to have one day a week off now. He’ll have this day. David Diehl Makes Trip to Kansas City: OT David Diehl, who is recovering from thumb surgery and who was listed as “doubtful” for Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs, did travel with the team on Saturday.

In addition, the Giants did not sign an offensive lineman from their Practice Squad despite the fact the Giants currently only have six healthy offensive linemen. Both of these facts seem to suggest that Diehl may be active on Sunday, even if he does not start.

OC David Baas (neck) and OG Chris Snee (hip) have already been ruled out of the game.

September 27, 2013 New York Giants Injury Report – Baas, Snee, and Webster Out: Not practicing on Friday were OC David Baas (neck), OG Chris Snee (hip), TE Adrien Robinson (foot), and CB Corey Webster (hip). All four players have officially been ruled “out” of Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

OT David Diehl (thumb), DE Justin Trattou (ankle), LB Spencer Paysinger (hip), LB Jacquian Williams (knee), CB Terrell Thomas (knee), and S Cooper Taylor (shoulder) practiced on a limited basis. Diehl is “doubtful”; Williams and Taylor are “questionable”; and Thomas, Paysinger, and Trattou are “probable” for the game on Sunday.

The Giants will head to Kansas City with only six healthy offensive linemen on the current 53-man roster. Head Coach Tom Coughin would not reveal who would start at left guard, center, and right guard. Kevin Boothe could start at left guard or center. James Brewer could start at right or left guard, as could Brandon Mosley. Jim Cordle could start at center.

In addition, in all likelihood, Giants will have to make a roster move on Saturday in order to sign one of the three offensive linemen currently on the Practice Squad: Stephen Goodin, Eric Herman, or Steven Baker.
